Computer Centre

Our Computer Centre is just one of the many facilities we have on campus to make your life as a student easier. Our teams work together to build a dynamic computing environment, high-speed networking infrastructure for the university's community. During your time with us you will be able to enjoy the following features:

  • WiFi across campus and in halls of residence
  • Microsoft Office software for free
  • Office 365 email

All Brunel registered users have access to the Computer Centre facilities. Your student ID card together with your network username and password will be required for the printing service and for the out of hours access to workareas.

Workareas

Staff and students are welcome to use PCs within the Computer Centre workareas for relevant university business. Some of these workareas are available at all hours. These rooms are equipped with our Computer Centre PCs, installed with supported software and hardware running Windows®7. Some of the Computer Centre workareas are centrally timetabled for teaching purposes, so access may be restricted during teaching sessions.

Printing

We provide a central service that allows you to print, photocopy and scan to e-mail in both monochrome and colour. Users can send their document from any PC/small device that has been authenticated to the Brunel network. They will then be able collect their output from a self-service printers accessible from many locations around the university. Access control cards (student ID cards) are necessary to access the printed documents from the printers.

The cost for printing and photocopying A4 monochrome is 5p per side - colour A4 photocopying and printing costs 20p per side. Print accounts can be credited online or on campus at various print credit top-up points.

Audio-visual equipment

The AV team provides technical support, maintaining a number of permanent installations and a stock of mobile and loan equipment, for the presentation of audio-visual media. Full details available from our the
